Measuring

Remember this basic tip for cooking success….

One tip for measuring is to take the time to measure over a separate empty bowl that will not be used for your combined ingredients.  For example, when measuring salt, hold the measuring spoon over an empty bowl to catch the overflow. This way the recipe is not ruined from too much salt or any other ingredient.  Next, level off the salt in the measuring spoon with a straight edge such as the back side or straight side of a knife, taking the heaping measuring spoon to an exact measurement.  Last, add the measuring spoon of salt to the rest of the ingredients. Happy cooking!
